Well. I measured the painting I planned on putting in the hopper house show and it is too big. I decided at that point to put in a photo... I was going to use one already framed so ... I was back in action. Then I decided to use a different photo I had taken last weekend so I was in the middle of editing that when the 'Better Angels of my Judgement' (feel free to read that as Wenderina) said... "That's nice, but it is for Hopper House it should be one of your paintings... and you have some great paintings that have a hopper feel to them...
So I have firmly made up my mind. Set out to find a painting of the right size that would work. I came across this nice little painting of Nobska Lighthouse on Cape Cod and decided the subject matter was good and the quality of the light if not the colors made me think of Edward Hopper.
Nobska Light - Wood's Hole Massachusetts
Thanks Wenderina... When you're right you're right!

Carl this is a fabulous painting, you are so lucky to be so talented!
Hi Krista - I am going to take that as a major compliment because your paintings knock me out they are so good.
Carl
I'm new to your blog, Carl. I've come via Dave's Pics and Poems.
You're art work is exquisite. You certainly have found 'artistic balance' and along with this you honour your influnces.
Elisabeth- Thanks so much. Art... whether it is painting or photography or any creative outlet makes me happy and that does indeed balance out all the noise and stuff from work and a busy life. I'll be over to visit your blog soon. Your blog must be good if you follow pics and poems. Dave is brilliant.
An excellent painting. It has such a bright, cheerful feel to it. You're very talented.
The filed in the front... the way it leads to the Light house... Yeah, it has a Hopper feel. I refuse to compliment you any more, though. Yup. Nope. NOt gonna do it. Doesn't matter if I think it is unfair that you create that sense of peace and motion in BOTH photography and painting. I'm not gonna mention it.
But I WILL be back to writing on my blog by the end of the weekend. And a certain autumn tunnel over a stream is hung by my desk here where I see it every morning. You and a couple of other artist friends have kept me going through six of the most trying months I have had since my Jessie left this world. So there.
Art... all of it. Where would we be without it?
Great painting. Makes me feel I want to take up the brush again.
Anil - Thanks and welcome to my blog! visit often.
Jeannette - Glad you like the painting. I struggle with watercolor quite a bit. there are some subjects that come easy to me and others are a complete and frustrating mystery to me. I am glad you get peacefulness from my work. It does not matter the medium Peace is what I seek in my art... Peace from the constant information and noise of today's society or a stressful career. Keep getting better and post some of your writing soon!
Dave as always you honor me with your words. Thank You!
Carl
Great painting!
Adrian - Thanks. I just saw it at the show's opening at hopper house and think it hung very well with the work of the other members.
