Here is what I'll paint next

This beautiful iris I photographed last summer at Skylands will be the next thing I paint. I am must interested in the play of the purples and the greens. It should be a fun project. Follow my progress here on Artistic Balance.

Step one.... Run out and buy paper. I used the last of the 300lb Arches last week on the tiger lily paintings!

There should be some progress on Sunday!

That's a great shot, and all of the little variations in light and color would make it a fun challenge to paint. Good luck!

Thanks P.C. - I am looking forward to doing some small test watercolors on Sunday. I want to capture the delicate nature of the iris before I do a full size one. I have a couple of ideas for the sketches... stay tuned.

I love 300 lb paper. The substance of it. I do mostly collage with water color, but even without collaging, I prefer the heavy paper. For whatever THAT'S worth!

The way I look at it Watercolor is tricky enough. I don't want to have to worry about my paper.
