Portrait Session: Max at Hoboken Terminal

I was speaking to Wenderina about doing portraits of our young friend Max and she came up with the idea of doing them as location portraits at Hoboken Station.  What a great idea.  The location was perfectly suited to Max's style and we were able to get some really great photos.

A sunday Morning Out With My Camera

This mornings shoot was at Indian Brook Falls.  A favorite spot of mine that I have never photographed when it was frozen over until now.

On our way to Indian Brook Falls we were treated to this amazing view of sunrise on the Hudson River from Bear Mountain.
It is amazing how much the sky can change in the minutes leading up to sunrise!
Got this photo of my friend Mike Malandra setting up a shot of the falls.  It was a cold, but great morning to be out hiking around.

Today my friend Mike and I headed out to Indian Brook Falls.  We wanted to shoot it while it was frozen over with ice.  It looked great.  Even better was the sunrise on the Hudson River we found on our way to the falls.

Drop in guests….

I found these guys munching on the berries from one of my trees the other day.  They must have been migrating and stopped for lunch.  there were 30-40 of them in one of my trees and on the driveway.  After a little fuel and some rest they were on their way, but not before I was able to get these shots.  The take away is always have a camera handy!

New York City in the snow!

I had to be in NYC this morning and found myself walking from Penn Station to the East Side in the snow storm.  I opted not to bring a camera today, but instead took these images with my IPhone camera.  I am blown away by the camera in this phone…

Pete Seeger Tribute

It was proposed this week that the New Tappan Zee Bridge be named in honor of Pete Seeger.  I think the even bigger tribute to Pete is already in place and has been for a while.  Pete was a champion of the Hudson River and his work on the Clearwater set in motion the gradual cleaning of the river.  The tribute is the return of the Bald Eagle to the banks of the river.  Growing up I could only see this majestic bird in a zoo, but was told at one time they could be seen along the river all winter long.  Yesterday I drove to Haverstraw Bay Park, which is about 10 minutes from my house.  There were three bald eagles sitting in a tree.  The one pictured here took off north and across the river towards Beacon as if to pay his respects to Pete.  I was able to snap off a few shots as the eagle finished his trip and headed back to his perch along the river.  The river is clean enough to support the eagles again because of Petes work and the people he inspired to take action.  So if you see an eagle along the Hudson (and they are not hard to find now) Say a little word of thanks to Pete.

Farewell Pete Seeger

We lost one of the greats this week.  Pete Seeger passed away at the age of 94.  I first saw Pete on the Clearwater Sloop when I was 11 or 12.  My love of the Hudson River, the banjo and old time American music comes from him.  Thanks for the music Pete!
