Show wrap up

My solo show is now down.  The walls of the gallery are patched and it is ready for the next show.  It was a great experience in every way possible.  I am now going to join my lovely wife and our friends on our vacation that is already in progress.... The things we do for our art!  I will be heading to the Cape and will post some new Cape Cod photos next week.

Until then...

Artistic Balance - Solo Show Final Weekend

Hi Everyone!

First thanks to the folks who turned up for the mini-workshop on nature photography.  I think it was informative and we had a good time.  As I head in to the final weekend of the show I must thank my family, friends and the artists of the Flywheel who have helped make this show a success on every level possible.  This is the start of a new chapter in my life as I pursue my life long dream of being a successful landscape photographer.  It has been tricky balancing all of the different parts of my life as I added this to the mix, but I would not trade this experience for anything.  My birthday is next week and I am facing this next year with a renewed confidence and sense of purpose.  Who knew one little art show could do all that!

Mini Workshop - Nature Photography

Hi Everyone  -

I will be holding a FREE mini workshop at the Piermont Flywheel Gallery from 7-9 pm on Thursday, August 23rd.  I will be talking about the three tools you need to transform your nature photographs.

This workshop will be geared towards people with DSLRs, but I will also have some tips for people using point and shoot cameras as well.

If you would like to attend, consider bringing a folding chair as the gallery has limited seating.

This is the final week of my show so come down to the gallery Thurs - Sunday to see my collections from Italy, Cape Cod and the waterfalls of NY.

The Halfway Point

So here we are at the halfway point of my solo show!  The opening last Saturday was a HUGE success!  we had many people come see my work and the visitors said such nice things about my photographs.  I had my family there which made the day even better and then some of my closest friends flew in from other parts of the country to surprise me and support me.  I really do have the most wonderful collection of people in my life.  On Thursday I had a mini-workshop on portraiture and turned the gallery into a portrait studio for the evening (my new head shot posted here is a result of that!).  The workshop drew in many passersby from the street.  Next Thursday I will be doing another mini-workshop talking about the three tools that can make your nature photos dramatically better!  There is a lot of interest in that one and I hope to get some good turnout for that.  I am not measuring the success of this show on sales numbers, but I do live in the real world and have to be able to afford my gallery membership and everything that goes into staging a solo show like this including all the printing and framing etc.  Even on that front the indicators are all good.  I have to date sold 19 pieces in the show of various sizes.  the prints I had done on aluminum have done very well and people are really excited about their detail and rich colors.  In the future I will print those even bigger.  I want to thank my family and my friends (old and new) for the love and support that has made this experience one of the most enjoyable of my life... and the show is only halfway over!

Artistic Balance - Opening Reception

I simply do not have the words to express my joy and gratitude over the opening reception for my show. By all reckoning I consider It a smashing success! I sold a few pieces and had wonderful comments by visitors that made me smile, but I was blown away where it really counts. The love and support of my family and friends who turned out from near and far is truly overwhelming. I love you all. I now know how George Bailey felt at the end of 'its a Wonderful Life' because I feel like the richest man in town.
