Here is an photo I took of three Calla Lilies. It reminded me that while I am very happy with the images I took this day last winter. I need to revisit the Calla Lilly. There is so much more for them to show me with their great lines and style.
While you enjoy this image I am getting back to what this blog was supposed to be about.... Balance. Balance in my life where the battle of career versus art is constantly waging. Also the battle of painter vs photographer goes on. Why not both you ask?? I seem to be wired for all or nothing. When I post on this blog it is 5 posts in a weekend and then silence all week. I am struggling with balancing all of it. I'd like to work a full 8 hour day and then turn my brain off from work stuff and paint for a few hours... I can't seem to do that. How do you manage it?

What a gorgeous photo Carl! The lighting, the framing, the theme all rolled into one for a superb photo.
I have to balance art, poetry, gardening and now photography too. Whew! Fortunately I don't work!
For myself I find if I do 6 or 7 items of one particular art form at a time (it's easy to get on a roll) then I can just follow whatever idea comes to mind after and not feel under pressure or short of time. This way I have about 100 fresh photos at all times as well as 4 or 5 pages of poetry written and a dozen or more paintings done. Since I usually stick to work that complements the present season anything left over goes into an extra folder or two as spare work in case I hit a block where nothing seems to come together.

Thank you so much! You hit the nail on the head. I feel like I just get ramped up on one of my artisitic pursuits and then the others need some attention. Trying to keep all of the art stuff moving forward and working as much as I do... just not enough hours in the week! I'm still looking for balance, but its getting there.
