NYBG | Orchids Redux

I snuck in one waterlilly... that I found at the orchid show.

The variety of Orchids at this show is staggering.  I really could go back without my camera and get lost there for a few hours.  I am sure there is so much I did not see because I was so busy taking photos.  I am so glad I went and that the weather was nice on Sunday when I was in the city.  It has been cloudy and raining ever since.. This tropical jolt to my senses was just what I needed....

Keep Makin' Art!

Your pictures are great. I find orchids so hard to photograph as the blooms are in such a line. You have really captured some great views and open my eyes to new possibilities in my photographing and composing of them.

You did an outstanding job with all of these photos, Carl! It took me forever to get the hang of shooting there, and really I don't totally feel like I have the hang of it yet... but you just nailed it. Awesome job!

Mama Lou - Of ourse i wouldn't have it any other way.

Wendy - Thanks. I try to think about isolating the flowers and finding some seperation from the background to help them stand out. I am glad you liked them.

Vicki - I had a lot of confidence going in. I had seen your awesome shots and you gave me so much info on the exposures that I was free to think about composition and background.

As I said before, I'm running out of superlatives!

Thanks again Dave!

Beautiful! =) Strangely I like the waterlily the best, perhaps because it sticks out in the crowd.

Sanna - I know what you mean. I am a sucker for water lillies... It does stand against the whole bunch of Orchids. I have 3 or 4 favorite orchids as well though.

Thanks,
Carl
