Orchid Watercolor

Orchid 5x7" on 140 lb hot press paper

Orchid Watercolor... My first attempt since some great paintings on the Cape this summer.  I love the colors and am glad I stopped before it got muddy.  I am definitely inspired enough to get back into the studio and paint again tomorrow...

Wendy Was right there was a studio under all that mess!

Chickadee Painting Started

I started the chickadee painting on Sunday night. Next are to put in the leaves and give some definition to the tree I think. I will let it see a few days while I think about it.

Watercolor

Hello Fellow Artists-
I am away for a few days in upstate NY. I brought my paints with me and finished the drawing and first washes on the still life set up you see in the photo above. So far so good. I am stopping now to let it dry. I am taking photos of each stage and will post them Sunday when I get back home along with the finished painting.

PLEASE NOTE: There has been some confusion. This image is my photo that the painting is based on. I do not have a way to post the painting until Sunday afternoon. I am taking photos of the painting a s I build it that I will post when I get home. Thanks! CS

Cape Salt Box

I have sold 2 different versions of this classic Cape Cod cottage. The inspiration is a house near where we stay on the cape. I had down as a nice pencil drawing several years ago. I changed the location to right on the bay and it has a great Cape Cod feel to it. I will probably paint one for myself soon.
What are you painting theses days?

Still Life with Granny Smith Apples

This is one of my favorite watercolors of the ones I have done. My Mom liked it and I made a gift of it to her. It thrills me that she likes this painting so much. She is a fine oil painter in her own right and is starting to learn watercolors.

watercolors - Highland Light

Highland Light - Truro Massachusetts
This is a subject I have painted several times. I always take liberty and put just a little water behind it(there is actually a golf course there). The water would actually be behind you if you viewed the lighthouse from this angle... I like my interpretation better.

I like revisiting this subject every few years. It has given me a way to see my painting style develop.

The Munchkins

Hello Fellow Artists:

My(amazing, funny, wonderful) nieces were here visiting (with my brother and sister-in-law) for a week recently. We had so much fun. I took some portraits of them one night. There is a shot of the two of them posted here.

We also had a great day where they wanted to paint. we painted some watercolors of Sunflowers. The paintings are marvelous! They both have a great sense of color and design. There is some great potential there!
