no camera weekend

We spent the weekend upstate for the 25th anniversary of some dear friends. between the 12 hours of driving and the rain this weekend. I got no photos. Hopefully in the next day or two I will have something new to post.

Peaceful....

I found this peaceful scene during a workshop in Harriman State Park a few years ago. I need to go out to that spot again on a foggy morning. Even if I don't get any photos the spot is as serene as the photo makes it look.

Minisceongo Creek in Black and White

I have thought in terms of pure color since I started shooting digital a few years ago. Starting out with IR B&W this summer made realize I was truly missing something not thinking in B&W anymore. They are like two different languages and I find I have to shift gears while I am shooting now, to decide is this a color shot or a B&W one.... In the end it has strengthened my eye for design and composition and improved both my color and my B&W work.

A couple more infrareds from recent work

It is important to go back thru your edits and make sure you did not miss any great shots. Sometimes ones that did not work for you on the first pass call out to you after a second look. Both of these were rescued from my recycle bin.

I can be ruthless when it comes to editing after I have been out shooting. Some images need to age a little before they are ready.

Wandering Orange County on a Summer Evening

I wandered around Orange County, NY tonight from Goshen to Salisbury Mills and all point in between and came up with these IR photos. It was a good night.

Genesee Street - Utica, NY

I spent a little time in Utica, NY this weekend and got a few Decent IR - B&W shots. The light and clouds on Saturday afternoon were perfect for it.

As a note to my self I must get back up this way and photograph the barns on and near route 20. There are some great old barns and rolling landscapes to photograph.

The demise of an icon.

On any given summer morning in the 1950's and 60's the parking lot of the "Red Apple Rest" would have been full of cars with families heading up Route 17 to the Catskills.... Now it stands in ruins as a reminder of a bygone age....
