I housesat one summer for a woman who collected orchids. They are wonderful and often mildly disconcerting. It took the WHOLE summer for me to finally get a decent watercolor sketch of one. I learned so much just trying to do that.
These pictures are JUST SPECTACULAR, Carl. You are right. I bet they were screaming at you to have their picture taken. (Some flowers are rude like that.)
Jeannette - Yes they can be downright rude these orchids shouting at you from an aisle away in the grocery store to take them home and photograph them. I liked these colors and will do some watercolor sketches... Perhaps Sunday if I get home from hanging images at Fresh paint on the cape early enough.
Dave - Thanks and yes they do have a dragon like quality when you look closely at them.
Funny, I thought they too screamed to be photographed. Love the colors. Espeically the purple. I also thought they had a mystical animal quality to them. Of course Dave expressed it much better then I could....xoxoxoRie

These are magnificent. I could see them as some preposterous dragon-like creature or insect about to take over the world!
