Corbett's Glen - A hidden gem in suburban Rochester

I have to give a big shout-out to my Mother-in-Law Mary Lou and our friend Eleanor for pointing me to Corbett's Glen.  I was visiting Rochester this weekend and Mom said "Hey you should photograph this place Eleanor just painted..."  I had never heard of Corbett's Glen before and it sounded good.  Well this little gem was better than just good it is great!  Tucked away near the border of the suburban towns of Brighton and Penfield, Corbett's Glen is a great little park with a small glen and three beautiful waterfalls.  I headed out early Saturday morning.  The location was just wonderful in the early morning light and when the sun rose just above the tree line and lit up the glen the green gold reflections of the trees were a sight to behold.  I plan to make this little spot a regular haunt during my visits upstate.  I always love the locations that are unexpected finds.  This one is a real winner.

Carl, these are stunning photos! Now I need to figure out how to get up to Rochester to shoot! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Vicki! I never even got to my planned shot of shooting high falls in the city of Rochester at night. That will wait for another trip. This was an awesome little spot. You can walk the whole place in 15 minutes, but there is magic to be found in that stretch of stream to be sure.

What can I say? I'm fresh out of superlatives! They've got to be the next best thing to being there!

Thanks Dave. The combination of the broad low falls, the combination of sunlit and shadowed bits and the reflections of the green trees made this spot perfect and waiting to be discovered on Saturday morning. These mornings out there with my camera feed me and recharge me like nothing else.

It does look like a beautiful, peaceful spot. Love the colors that are reflected in the water!

jenny - Thanks it is a great spot.

Victoria - Thanks. I was happy there before the sun popped over the trees, but when I saw the reflections growing in the water I knew it would be an amazing place.

Dave - I'm so glad you came back to see them again. Thanks. I feel cool and relaxed just looking at the photos... pretty good since it will be 95 here today.

You KNOW how I feel about your water pictures, so I won't say it again. Unless I want to. Moving and relaxing at the same time. REAL life Middle Earth as I imagined it when I was in sixth grade and first read Tolkein.
