Elisabeth. I bump up the asa so I can use a higher fstop at a faster speed. It is more forgiving that way.... I still get plenty with a butterfly half out of the frame, but I am getting better with practice.
Lovely photos! =) Patience seems to be key when shooting butterflies, at least it is for me. I read somewhere that staying low and making sure that your shadow doesn't come near them helps, but this far it has never worked for me. =/

Fantastic, Carl. How do you get the butterfly to sit still for long enough to get that shot?
This from a non-photographer. I'm sure there's a technical answer.
Excellent captures and great DOF Carl.
Wonderful colors, Carl!
Thank You Victoria and Janice!
