Early Morning Irises at Skylands

It is my favorite time of year when the wildflower gardens at Skylands are full of blooming Irises.  I have been there with my camera many times.  Each visit is different.  This morning the light was perfect and I got some really nice images.  Then I hopped on my bike for a five mile ride.  Perfect morning!

Infrared - Color or Black and White.

Depending on how you deal with your Infra-Red images they can be color or B&W.  To this point I have been a purist and prefer the B&W images, but here are color versions of some of the images from last week.  What are your thoughts?  Color or B&W?

Here are the first half of the B&W Infrareds from my trip today up into the catskills.  I am really pleased with how they turned out.  I will post the rest of the B&W on Monday and the Color IRs on Tuesday.

Infrared

On my way home this afternoon I was lucky enough to wander around Orange County photographing barns.  It is the perfect time of year for infrared photos.  Lots of greens and strong skies are perfect.  Do you prefer the color ones or the traditional B&Ws?

Tomorrow I plan to head to Sullivan and Ulster Counties for more photos.

Journeys - A Collection of Photographs by Carl Stoveland

I will have a new show called 'Journeys' at the Piermont Flywheel Gallery from July 18th to August 4th.  It is an exciting new collection of images from my travels and modes of transit.

Included in this show will be new black & white images printed on gelatin silver fiber based paper that are hand toned in sepia for longevity and enhanced tonal range.  The show will also include new color images printed on metal and a variety of substrates.  I am very proud of these new images and cannot wait to share them with you.
