Solo Show - Progress Update
The UPS and Fed EX guys will be happy to know all of the big packages for my solo show have arrived. They only have a couple more boxes to deliver. We have been opening boxes all week and oohing and ahhing over the wonderful job done by my labs. The prints on canvas and aluminum are just amazing to see. The storage unit is filling up with prints ready to hang in the show. to date 26 prints have arrived.
Next up sending out some more postcards and signing and getting the limited edition Grand Central prints into mats and bags. The next two weeks leading up to hanging the show will just fly by.

Now for something completely different
These are from the first roll of film I have shot in 10 years. I shot them as test shots around town with a Horizon Perfekt panoramic camera. It is like a poor man's widelux. Very cool to shoot totally manual after all these years. I will be going out with this little gem again on Cape Cod in a few weeks!

Still More Butterflies
One more batch of butterflies from my garden. I captured these on Sunday afternoon. The eastern swallow tails are really quite nice this year!
On another note. The first four large canvas pieces for my show arrived today and I was blown away by how great they turned out! It was like Christmas morning at my house tonight opening the packages.

Update on Artistic Balance solo show at Flywheel Gallery
Things are coming in to focus quickly now. My solo gallery show is 18 days away. When I found out what the dates were earlier this year it seemed like such a long way off, but as is always the case the time has gone by much more quickly than I expected. The postcards for the show arrived yesterday. The picture above is a copy of the postcard. Once the images were decided on then the work of picking how to print them and what sizes took some time. Prints start arriving this week. I have a storage unit setup with shelves to hold the images until it is time to hang them. Over the next few weeks I will be posting photos and articles about the show and some of the details that have gone into getting ready to hang my first gallery show. The edge of my computer monitor is covered in post it notes with lists and to-do's and reminders about the show. One thing I am making sure to do is enjoy this. I am being careful to not get so bogged down in the prep work and remember that this is in part a celebration for me about reaching one of my life goals as an artist. There are plenty left to go, but I am enjoying this one. Those artistic life goals are somewhere around here on a post it note so I don't forget. Below are some of the dates and times for events around the show. I hope to see many of my friends at the gallery while the show is on, but fear not! I know summer is crazy with vacations and work and such, I will document the show going up and the show for future posts.

Piermont Carnival
The Carnival is in Piermont this weekend. Great fun, but BAD for business at the gallery. Just not an art buying or even gallery visiting crowd I'm afraid, but it gave me a chance to get out and practice. Tonight they are adding fireworks so there may be a chance to add some interesting shots.

Artistic Balance the Solo Show
Friends,
Well after an arduous process... I (With Wendy's Help) narrowed down the images for my Solo Show at the Piermont Flywheel Gallery in August. I am including over thirty images from three of my favorite collections. There will be prints from Cape Cod, Italy and the waterfalls of New York collections. I decided on these collections because they are some of my favorite places in the world and help keep me in artistic balance. Some of the images will be traditional framed photographs others will be offered as canvas prints and there will be some stunning images printed on aluminum. below are just a couple of the images that will be included in the show. See below for show dates and i hope I can see all of you at the opening reception. For those who cannot make it to the show I will post a video of the show here on my blog after it is up on display.
The show will run from August 9 - 26th 2012.
Opening reception will be Saturday August 11th from 2 - 6 pm. Stop in to see my photos. This is some of my finest work to date and I look forward to showing them to you.
Wine and snacks will be served.
Gallery Hours:
Thursday & Sunday 1 - 6 Friday & Saturday 1 - 9 or by appointment

My Solo Show
I am into Day 2 of the editing and selecting process for images in my solo show. Italy and Waterfalls have been narrowed down and now I need Wendy to help me narrow it down still further. I trust her eye she has great taste and sees things in my images that I may be seeing thru the partial lens of the artist. She can be much more objective and makes my finished work so much stronger.

Here is an oldie but goodie of Dover Stone Church falls that may or may not make the final cut.
UPDATE: At the end of day two with Wendy's help I had 50 images in 6 collections. We decided we can 't cut anymore from any of the collections, but can save three collections for my next show. This show will have some of my very best stuff. It will include Italy, Cape Cod and the Waterfalls of New York. Now to get it all printed. framed and hung.

Editing and Selecting
I am off from work for the next two days. I will be spending that time selecting images for my solo show at Flywheel Gallery in August. After my rough selection process I will let the best editor I know (My lovely wife Wendy) help me make the final picks. then it will be off to the lab and other preparations.
Talk to you all in a few days after i have filled 280 sq feet of gallery space.... Yikes!
