More Infrared - The Catskills and Shawangunks

 Saugerties Lighthouse

Here are the first half of the B&W Infrareds from my trip today up into the catskills.  I am really pleased with how they turned out.  I will post the rest of the B&W on Monday and the Color IRs on Tuesday.

Barns in Black and White

Here are three barns from the other day done as B&W images. Which is better? Hard to tell. I think the B&Ws are generally better this time of year, but the color photo of the shot in the bottom of this grouping... would probably be my favorite shot of all of them.

What do you think? Color or B&W for old barns??

Catskills

Often at this time of year... that time between the last snow and the return of lush, green spring I have trouble finding subjects to shoot in color. Last week NYC gave me a different opportunity. This week I challenged myself to find subjects that were interesting in the limited palette we find until things green up. I drove up into the Catskill Mountains and came away with these three photos. The red barn is my hands down favorite. I am thrilled with what I got when I pushed myself a little to find photographs.

Tomorrow Some more photos from the butterfly conservatory...
